Team 5 Silly Sports Day

It was a beautiful day on Tuesday 23 August. Cause today was team fives 'Silly Sports Day!' As we got down to the bottom field all the teachers started setting up thier activities.

The first activity we did was Mr Harris's challenge. We had to find a partner and strap one of our legs to each other and walk with a spoon with a ball in hand. You had to walk to the otherside and back to win. As my partner and I started we were going well untill she fell over and then she gave up just like that. Samson and a few more people won and they challenged each other. After that we moved on to the next activity.

We moved on to Mrs Nua's challenge. Her challenge was a water challenge and I could tell this was going to be cool. As we got in to our teams Mrs Nua told us the rules. In my team was Sione, Jordan, Aliza, Denim, Aidan and I. "Go," shouted Mrs Nua, our team quickly tried to get the water into the other bucket. The team with the red bucket won the first challenge. In the second one we tried to get it into the bucket as fast as we could, but then as Jordan ran up to the front of the line he slipped and broke our bucket everyone including himself started laughing. Then we carried on.

As we got to Mrs laungitupo's activity she straight away gave us a band. I was in the red band group we had a good team but the blue team had all the good athletes in it so we knew there was going to be a challenge. We lost our game against the blue team and I'm not sure if we lost, drew or won against the yellow team.

Arriving to the last activity which was Miss Tito's. Her challenge was to fling a ball with a big sling shot it into a hoop if you got it to land inside the pink hoop you would get 100 points for your class. we had tried to get a ball to land into the pink hoop but we failed. Ms Tito had a go and she had to try to hit Ms V and she did, it looked really funny. At the end of the day it was really fun, I hope we have another one real soon because I enjoyed that a lot.

Taking Our Net Books Home

On Wednesday the 17 of August I was so excited because today was the big day. As I got to school I thought I can’t wait till school finishes because we can take our ‘NET BOOKS HOME!!!’

5, 4, 3, 2, 1 “Diiiiiiiiii ring, Diiiiiiiiii ring,” yes the bell has rung. saying good bye to my teacher I rushed out of the street and off to my house to remind my dad about tonight. Arriving at school once again I was getting closer and closer to taking my net book home.

Talking to my friends I noticed that all the parents are in their childs classroom except my dad and Ms Teleso. So I quickly walked to my dad and Ms Teleso and said, “Come in the classroom,” my dad replied, “ I know I need a pen,” so I went into the classroom and got them a pen and pencil.

As they finished the paper it was our turn. We gave the papers and got our contract and left. I got home and got strait on to my net book and I was really happy.

Thanks to Jordan who checked my work.

"Where In The World Is Korea?"

The Brumbies were given a number of names of rugby-playing nations of the world. These were some of the nations that are recognised by the
world governing body of Rugby Union, the International Rugby Board (IRB), as member unions but did not qualify for RWC 2011.

We divided them up amongst our team. I was given the nations listed b
elow:
This is what I found -

“Korea”
1. Korea’s national flag.

2. The continent that Korea is located in Asia

3. Seoul, Pyongyang is the capital of Korea.
4. The population of Korea is 24,457,492.

5. Korea’s most popular sports are figure skating and swimming.

I have decided to study Korea for our Immersion task.

"Where The Heck is Remuera?"

Different Auckland town centres have adopted Rugby teams from countries that qualified for the World Cup. I found out information about :
The location in Auckland;
Something special about this place;
A 'potted' history of the place; If it has it's own symbol of some sort.(If we couldn't find a symbol we chose a picture that told more about the place).
Remuera is hosting Scotland for the RWC.
Remuera is a place found in Auckland in the North Island of New Zealand. The suburb extends from Hobson Bay and the Orakei Basin.
Remuera is shown by the symbol to south-east of Auckland city centre..

Remuera has had a long history of human occupation, starting back in the early 14th century when the Maoris came to the area. They named the place O-hine-rangi - the
place of Hinerangi (girl of the sky).

The building to the right use to be Remuera’s first fire station.

Keep Your Eye On The Ball

We are using the nations of the 2011 Rugby World Cup as our inquiry path.

For this unit we are in one of four teams: Brumbies, Force, Rebels, Stormers. My team is Brumbies

There will be a number of tasks for us to navigate to achieve our goal of an excellent result in this unit. There are a mixture of individual and team tasks to be completed. The main task that will show our learning in this unit will be a Hyperstudio presentation about one of the countries in the World Cup competition.

I don't really think of the rugby world cup that much because rugby's not my kind of sport. But I hope Samoa or New Zealand wins the world cup.
